President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday pledged to develop an Islamic Center and among numerous other projects for B. Eydhafushi in the next tennure.
Notably, Eydhafushi was the 93rd island the President visited in his campain tours. Hence, he has now visited half of the 186 residential islands of Maldives.
Speaking in Eydhafushi, President Solih noted that people of this island were keen on seeking the knowlege of Islam. He expressed his belief that it was important to establish facilities to promote this knowledge.
Subsiquently, he vowed to develop an Islamic Center in the island.
“There are many wanting to seek islamic knowledge. I believe that is how it is in every island of Maldives. We need to increase facilities for that.”
President Solih’s pledges for Eydhafushi in a second term:
Develop an Islamic Center
Tar the remaninig roads of the island
Develop hospital with enhaced facilities
Develop a beach area for swimming
Develop a sports complex with facilites
Additionally, he assured that physical work will commence on the harbor on the southern side of the island. this is aimed at resolving the habour issues faced by Eydhafushi.
The President noted that people of this island would even today, believe that this is the government capable of bringing about a significant change to the progress and deveopment of Eydhafushi. He stated that Eydhafushi was in the front rows compared to the other islands in terms of development.
President Solih said that he had given extra care to providing the islands that lacked some of the more basic facilities, and by the end of his tennure, there would be no such islands remaining. Due to this, should he win the second term, his main focus would be developing the islands in areas that the residents want to.
