Fire interrupts PSM's transmission

A fire broke out at the Public Service Media (PSM) headquarters in Male’ City on Saturday, resulting in an interruption to the state TV’s transmission.

PSM’s spokesperson Zeek Mohamed Riza told Sun that the fire broke out in an equipment room at the PSM headquarters on Saturday morning.

“The fire was put out shortly after it began. It happened in the morning. There was no damage,” he said.

The fire resulted in a power outage at the PSM, resulting in an interruption to the transmission of the services’ TV channels.

Zeek said that the PSM is working on setting up a backup generator, and expect to be able to resume transmission soon.
