Nazeera Ibrahim Manik, former president of Maldives Development Alliance (MDA)’s Women’s Council, has been appointed a member of the party’s National Council.
She was appointed to the post during a convening of the National Council held on last Wednesday evening.
Nazeera presently serves as the in-charge of MDA’s party centre. Commenting on her appointment, Nazeera told Sun that her appointment to National Council would make carrying out her responsibilities as the in-charge of the party centre easier.
She detailed her work’s aim as making MDA the largest political party in the Maldives.
“Additionally, my biggest aim is to create interest towards MDA within the public; showcase the party’s aims to the public and recruit youths for the party,” she added.
Nazeera served as the president of MDA’s Women’s Council from 2015 to 2019. She is the first woman to be elected for the post through a voting.
Nazeera is also the first woman in the Maldives to win Rehendhi Award in the political category.
