The last camp of the blood donation drive launched by Sun Siyam Resorts to commemorate its 33rd anniversary was held at Sun Siyam Vilu Reef on Friday.
Vilureef’s Manager Thoha Yoosuf, speaking after launching the one-day camp, said over 50 staff had volunteered to donate blood.
Underscoring blood cannot be produced artificially, he said those in need of blood, only get it, due to the generosity of other people. He described the donation of blood as an act that cannot be monetized.
Thoha, noting today’s camp was the last under the blood donation drive, said the company has reached its goal.
“Sun Siyam Group’s blood donation drive’s goal was 400 donations. We have now reached this goal,” he said.
Briefing Sun regarding the camp, Sun Siyam Head Office’s Agriculture Department’s Manager Azza Hameed said the biggest purpose of the camp was to provide assistance to Thalessemia patients.
The one-day camp was carried out with the assistance of a visiting team from Maldives Blood Services, including a doctor.
Azza thanked Maldives Blood Services for their cooperation in ensuring the success of the camp.
Azza, noting cooperation from the resort’s management and all staff in this trajectory, also thanked them.
Sun Siyam Group’s assistant general manager Hassan Adil told Sun earlier that they launched its first blood drive back in 2015. Adil said the camp has expanded since then while there was a halt during the COVID-19 pandemic.
