MTCC awarded coastal protection projects at Dhigurah and Maalhendhoo

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been awarded coastal protection projects at ADh. Dhigurah and N. Maalhendhoo.

The agreements pertaining to the projects were signed during a special ceremony on Thursday by MTCC’s CEO, Managing Director Adam Azim and Planning Ministry’s Director General Shaana Farooq.

Maalhendhoo Costal Protection Project

Under this project, MTCC will be required to dredge 735.9 cubic meters of harbor basin, construct a 73-meter groyne, construct a 386-meter revetment and construct a 175-meter geobag revetment.

Additionally, the company will be required to construct a 47-meter quay wall, construct a 30-meter-long four-meter-wide bridge, construct a jetty, install mooring buoys, install pavement in a 929-square kilometer area and navigation lights.

The project valued at MVR 32.34 million has to be completed within 270 days.

Dhigurah Costal Protection Project

This project entails the construction of a 127-meter boulder revetment on the northern side of the island. It also includes backfilling and the construction of 15-meter boulder groyne.

Additionally, the project also entails the installation of geobags at 420-meter area and replenishing the beach by adding sand.

Valued at MVR 12.86 million, the project has to be completed within 150 days.
