Two arrested for sexual abuse of pre-teen girl

Two people have been arrested from southern Maldives for the sexual abuse of an 11-year-old girl.

According to police, the sexual abuse of the young girl was reported to the south police division, which covers GA. Atoll, GDh. Atoll, Addu City, and Fuvahmulah City), at approximately 11:03 pm Saturday.

The police arrested two suspects in connection to the case under court order Sunday.

The suspects were identified by police as a 63-year-old Maldivian male and 25-year-old Maldivian male.

The case is under further investigation by police.

The police do not disclose details, including the island where the crime took place, in order to protect the identity of child victims.
