Yameen’s eid greeting from prison: Stand tall against violence

Opposition leader, former president Abdulla Yameen has extended Eid al-Fitr greetings to Maldivian citizens advising them to stand tall against political influence and violence.

The jailed opposition leader sent Eid greetings to the public through his oldest son, Zain Abdulla Yameen.

In his message, Yameen urged all Maldivian citizens to stand tall against political influence and violence for the sake of the Maldivian nation.

He extended Eid greetings and well wishes in his name and on behalf of his family to all citizens.

Yameen, the opposition coalition’s presidential candidate, is presently serving an 11-year prison sentence after being found guilty of money laundering and bribery in connection not the sale of V. Aarah for tourist development. Yameen nor PPM wish to hand over the presidential ticket to any individual.

The conviction has now been appealed to High Court by Yameen.
