Police, in a statement on Saturday night, said the case has been ruled as a homicide and has requested anyone who may have information regarding the murder to come forward.
Investigators from the Serious and Organized Crime Department, a team of forensic investigators, and a forensic pathologist are operating in Manadhoo to investigate the case.
Many expressed concerns over Naeema’s burial without conducting a postmortem examination. However, the decision was made by the forensics team after their assessment of the samples.
No further information has been disclosed by the police regarding Naeema’s murder since.
When Sun reached out for a comment on Friday – Police confirmed no arrests have been made in connection with the murder while stating there was no new information to disclose at the moment.
Nevertheless, Manadhoo residents have been thrown into a limbo of fear following the murder. They have so many unanswered questions including who the assailant is, whether he or she still resides on the island, and why Naeema had been slain so brutally.
