Second fire from Hiyaa towers in April reported Friday night

A fire broke out at the seventh tower of Hiyaa Flats developed at Hulhumale’ Phase II on Friday night.

The fire broke out at approximately 8:30pm tonight.

Urbanco confirmed the fire at H7 Hiyaa tower on Friday night which has now been brought under control.

Maldives National Defense Force’s (MNDF) Spokesperson told Sun the incident was a result of waste stored in the balcony of a first-floor apartment in the tower catching on fire.

No injuries related to the incident have been reported so far. Sun has learned that the apartment was vacant when the fire broke out.

A similar incident was reported from H5 Hiyaa tower in early April after waste stored in the balcony of an apartment on the 17^th floor caught on fire.
