Minister Nahula summoned to parliament committee over multiple complaints

Parliament’s Committee on National Development and Heritage, on Tuesday, summoned Transport Minister Aishath Nahula over multiple complaints the public has filed against her.

The complaints include a permit to park a vehicle in a garage situated at a home without the knowledge of the house owner and one over the failure by Transport Ministry to provide a service four months from the date of request.

Other main complaints, as per the committee’s chair, include delays in receiving domain boards after making payment in addition to lack of cooperation from the ministry when assistance is sought regarding their services.

Speaking to the committee members – Minister Nahula underscored having requested to share the details of the cases with the Ministry. She also briefed the ministry on Transport Ministry’s standard procedures with respect to separate complaints – and assured they would be attended to if required.

“If there is an issue with respect to a certain party, we can identify why the issue had come about, and if there are delays, can guide why there have been delays,” she added.

Minister Nahula has been summoned to parliamentary committees over complaints submitted to the parliament previously as well. Just last week, she had been summoned by parliament’s Committee on Secondary Legislation over the increase of vehicles inadequate to space.
