Shaviyani crowned champions of Ooredoo Boki Boalha Tournament

The team Shaviyani has been crowned champions of the Ooredoo Boki Boalha Tournament 2023 – organized by Ooredoo Maldives in collaboration with Maziya Sports and Recreation Club.

The final match between Shaviyani and Brollerz - Rage Fitness took place at the turf ground of Rehendi School in Hulhumale’ on Saturday night.

The teams had been tied 1-1 at the end of first half. However, Shaviyani broke the tie with an amazing goal during the second half, winning the match 2-1.

Shaviyani won the grand prize of MVR 20,000, while runner-up Brollerz - Rage Fitness won MVR 10,000.

Meanwhile, CROSSROADS Maldives, which lost to Shaviyani in the semi, secured third place after beating Tree Top Hospital 2-0. The team won MVR 5,000.

Ooredoo Maldives’ CEO and Managing Director Khalid Al-Hamadi said the company was incredibly proud to have hosted the Ooredoo Boki Boalha tournament, and witness the amazing talent and sportsmanship displayed by all the teams.

“Our heartfelt congratulations to the winning teams and we look forward to hosting this tournament in the future, bigger better and with more fun and excitement for the participants,” he said.

The Boki Boalha tournament was a bumper football tournament – a fun take on traditional football. Each match lasts 10 minutes; two halves with a three-minute break in between. Teams receive three points for wins and one point for draws during group stage. Draws during the knockout stage require a penalty shootout.
