To mark its 20th anniversary, Ooredoo is offering customers a free cup of coffee from Lyre Cafe in Hulhumale' by interacting with their new AI chatbot, 'Safaru Kaiydha'. This initiative is part of Ooredoo Maldives' "AI Folk Tales" project, a component of their "Future Meets Nostalgia" 2025 campaign.

Ooredoo's AI chatbot interface featuring 12 Maldivian folklore characters.

The "AI Folk Tales" project aims to digitize 12 Maldivian folklore characters, including well-known figures like Foolhu Dhigu Handi and Santhi Mariyambu, by transforming them into AI chatbots. Users can engage with these characters monthly, discovering their stories and cultural significance. Developed in collaboration with Loopcraft and historian Naajih Didi, the project utilizes advanced machine learning, incorporating over 25,000 words per character, to create immersive experiences that help preserve Maldivian heritage.

To claim a free coffee, customers simply need to start a conversation with Safaru Kaiydha via the provided link.

The chatbot will then request the user's phone number, after which a confirmation message will be sent. Presenting this message at Lyre Cafe will entitle the user to one free cup of coffee per registered phone number. This promotion is valid until the end of the month.

Ooredoo previously ran a similar free coffee promotion in March as part of its 'Happiness Day' celebrations, featuring another chatbot named Maakunbe.
