President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has instructed the dismissal of State Trading Organization (STO)’s managing director Hussain Amr Mohamed Rashad.

President’s Office spokesperson Miuvaan Mohamed told Sun that the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) was instructed to dismiss Amr from his position as STO’s managing director and from the company’s board of directors Sunday.

“The President made this decision as part of periodic changes to the management of state-owned enterprises,” he said.

The President’s Office has yet to announce Amr’s replacement.

The decision comes with Amr aligned with Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) leader Mohamed Nasheed against the party’s presidential candidate Solih. He had represented Nasheed in some of the negotiations with Jumhoory Party (JP).
