11 arrested in violent altercation between expatriates released

Eleven who were arrested over a violent altercation that broke out between expatriates at T-jetty area in Male’ City have been released from custody.

A Police Spokesperson told Sun on Sunday that 11 arrested over the altercation have now been released following the completion of their inquiries.

The Spokesperson also noted that five who were being treated in Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) after sustaining injuries to various extents have been discharged after treatment.

However, the Spokesperson stressed that the case is under further investigation by the police.

The incident took place at approximately 16:52pm on Saturday evening.

It came at a time Male’ is seeing an increase in gang violence.
