Man arrested for using counterfeit TT to import goods

A Maldivian man has been arrested on suspicions of using counterfeit Telegraphic Transfers (TT) to fraudulently import goods.

Police identified the suspect as a 37-year-old man. They said he was arrested following suspicions of selling and profiting from fraudulently imported goods from various foreign companies.

The case is under further investigation by the Economic Crime Department.

An increase in cases of obtaining money through fraud and scams has recently been observed in the Maldives.
