Video showing indiscreet drug deal in Male’ street goes viral

A video showing an indiscreet drug deal in a street in Male’ City has gone viral on social media.

The 40-second video shot aerially shows a youth, sitting comfortably on a parked motorcycle, selling drugs to a group of people.

A motorcyclist next to the youth is captured paying him MVR 100, following which the youth hands over a packet to the motorcyclist. Two others are then seen coming up to the youth. After they make the payment, they are both also handed over similar packets.

While drug addiction is a major issue in the Maldives, the common complaint among citizens is the lack of results produced through efforts to combat the issue.
