Night flights to Hanimaadhoo airport suspended

Flights to HDh. Hanimaadhoo will be suspended indefinitely from the start of March.

Island Aviation, the parent company of Maldivian, revealed today that due to the renovations of the airport in Hanimaadhoo, evening flights will be suspended temporarily.

Maldivian said further that with the changes to the operations from March, the evening flights to Trivandrum, India will also be suspended.

For travellers who have taken tickets for days after March one, contact the call centre of Maldivian and they have said that they will accommodate the changes.

The renovation of the airport in Hanimaadhoo has been handed over to JMC Projects Limited by the government. This project is worth 136.6 US dollars (2.1 billion rufiyaa).

A new 2.46 kilometre runway will be built under this project, as well as a modern terminal that can cater to 1.3 million passengers per year and other facilities that are essential to the airport.

The agreement to develop Hanimaadhoo International Airport was signed in September 2022.
