Fire breaks out at Fiyoaree School

A fire broke at GDh. Fiyoaree School on Sunday evening.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) said firemen from GDh. Thinadhoo Fire Station was preparing to head to Fiyoaree over the fire.

They said that it would take approximately 45 minutes to for the firemen to reach Fiyoaree.

Education Ministry said that the fire broke out at the old hall building of Fiyoari School at approximately 5:00pm this evening. They assured that no student was hurt in the fire as it occurred during closed hours.

The Ministry detailed that the building where the fire broke out comprises of five classrooms – of which three are in use.

They further assured to be working alongside the school to make arrangements to ensure the studies of the students are uninterrupted.

It was also noted by the Ministry that efforts were underway to control the fire with assistance from MNDF and police – while the cause of the fire remains unclear at the moment.
