HDC installs wheelchair ramps at Hulhumale’ Phase II beach

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has begun installing wheelchair ramps at the beach in Hulhumale’ Phase II, as part of the corporation’s efforts to ease the difficulties faced by people with disabilities living in the suburb.

According to HDC, it has completed 80 percent of work on installing blocks for the ramps in the beach near the Hiyaa housing units.

HDC said that the biggest purpose of installing wheelchair ramps at the beach is to make it easier for people with disabilities to use the beach and enjoy the waters.

Visitors to Hulhumale’ Phase II has seen a significant increase since the area was populated.

“We are in the final phase of the project to develop wheelchair ramps in the area. The ramps will be open for use in late December,” said HDC.

HDC said it believes in the importance of ascertaining the rights of people with disabilities and helping them live dignified lives.

This corporation is committed to providing them with the facilities and services they need.

HDC has also installed wheelchair ramps across Hulhumale’ and at the Hiyaa units.
