A Committee has been assembled to oversee the management of the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) during the interim process following the annulment of the agreement between GMR and the Maldives government.
The President’s Office said today that the Committee is mandated to oversee the functioning of the airport during this interim period, to hold discussions with GMR, to help the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) in the transfer process, and to inform the President of the proceedings of the issue.
The Committee which was put together by the President is chaired by Defence Minister and Acting Transport Minister Colonel (Rtd) Mohamed Nazim.
Along with Nazim, the Committee is composed of Finance Minister Abdulla Jihad, Economic Minister Ahmed Mohamed, Tourism Minister Ahmed Adheeb Abdul Gafoor, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Civil Aviation Authority Ibrahim Faisal, Colonel Mohamed Ziyad of the Maldives National Defence Force, and Ahmed Shafeeg Mohamed of Ikuleeluge, HaaAlifDhiddhoo.
The Maldivian government terminated their contract with GMR, and handed over Ibrahim Nasir International Airport and to MACL last Saturday.
