The Maldives Coast Guard has taken the people who were travelling on Hivvaru boat on-board the Coast Guard vessel tonight at 6:15pm.
Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Spokesperson Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef told Sun moments ago that eight people have been transferred from the Sri Lankan fishing vessel located about 370 miles from Maldives, to the Coast Guard vessel. He said that all eight people are in good condition.
He said that they are now resting under the supervision of the medical team, and that they have been provided food and clothing.
He said that they will depart to Maldives shortly, but time of arrival in Male’ was not yet known.
Hivvaru boat went missing on the night of 29 November after it departed from Male’ en route to Addu. Two people including a Maldivian have died in the incident.
