Police probe sexual harassment of 81-year-old Vaikaradhoo woman

Police have launched an investigation into the sexual harassment of an 81-year-old woman in HDh. Vaikaradhoo.

The victim’s daughter, Aishath Haneefa told Sun on Tuesday evening that her mother lived with her younger brother, and that the incident took place while he had been away fishing.

Haneefa said that her mother had just finished Magrib prayer when a stranger from another island came to the house and asked for something to eat.

The man was nude when her mother returned with the food.

“The man chased by mother and she fled to a neighboring house in fear. She told her neighbor you who reported it to the police,” said Haneefa.

Police confirm the incident was reported to authorities at approximately 07:00 pm Friday, November 11.

The police did not disclose whether any arrests have been made.
