Opposition leader Yameen arrives in Addu City

Leader 0f the Opposition Coalition and former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom arrived in Addu City on Sunday.

This is the first visit to the city since being officially given the Progressive Party of Maldives’ (PPM) to contest in the Presidential Elections slated for 2023.

Numerous supporters gathered at Gan International Airport to greet Yameen with banners and flags expressing their support for him. This includes children, youth, and the elderly.

During this visit, some activities along with a gathering a scheduled for late afternoon in Feydhoo.

Additionally, the spokesperson for PPM Heena Waleed stated that any citizen who wishes to meet with Yameen will be given the opportunity to do so during this visit.

Yameen is accompanied by the leader of the People’s National Congress (PNC), former MP for Hulhudhoo constituency Mohamed Shahid, and other members of the opposition leadership.

Addu City is well known for its support of the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
