The school of Th. Vilufushi has informed that the island citizens are going fishing to obtain funds to develop the school as a digital one.
Principal of Vilufushi School Abdullah Nahid said today that a three-month fund-raising program is under way, to collect MVR860,000 required to make the classrooms digital.
In this regard, the island fishermen had so far collected MVR160,255 through grouper fishing.
“The fishermen commenced the fishing trip on 1 December, and concluded it on 3 December. They donated MVR160,255 by working for three days,” Nahid said.
He said that MVR169,000 had also been obtained from Vilufushi Council Office for the establishment of a Teachers’ Resource Centre, following a proposal submitted to the Council in this regard.
Furthermore, employees of all state institutions in the island have decided to contribute their basic salaries of three days to the program.
Nahid said that the project was initiated following a proposal designed and submitted to the Council by Vilufushi School, to develop a modern school.
He said that the aim of the project is to use multimedia and modern equipment for teaching at Vilufushi School.
