Youth Awards presented to 10 recipients in different fields

Youth Awards has been presented to 10 recipients in different fields on Sunday night.

At the official function held to mark the National Youth Day at Maafannu Youth Centre on Sunday night, the awards were presented to recipients by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

The awards were presented in nine categories, alongside a special award presented by the Ministry of Youth Sports and Community Empowerment from the National Youth Volunteer Program.

Recipients of the awards;

In the field of business and economy - Mohamed Jailam, Shaadhee Villa, GDh. Fiyoari

In the field of sports - Neesha Haleem, Ma. Kokoama, Male’ City

In the field of humanitarian work - Firasha Mohamed, Relief, HDh. Hanimadhoo

In the field of empowering youth - Abdulla Shahuneez, Orchidmaage, N. Lhohi

In the field of Dhivehi language and culture – Ali Ameer, Luck Star, Dh. Bandidhoo

In the field of arts – Abdulla Shafeeu, Hisaan, HDh. Vaikaradhoo

In the field of counter-narcotics – Afir Mohamed, GDh. Rathafandhoo

In the field of agriculture – Ali Rasheed, Morning House, L. Isdhoo

In the field of vocational training – Ibrahim Shareef, Uraha, Lh. Hinnavaru

National Youth Volunteer Program – Ahmed Ahnaf, Asaree, AA.Rasdhoo

Youth Awards are bestowed to honor youths excelling in different fields, recognizing their work, and to further encourage them. Although the award was presented in nine categories – nominations were open in 18 categories.

During the function held tonight, a report based on a research conducted by Youth Ministry and Maldives National University (MNU) was unveiled – which is aimed at identifying the current circumstances of youths across the country. The report was launched by Vice President Faisal Naseem.

The main focus of the research was to identify reasons youths commit criminal offenses and explore ways to prevent youths from committing crimes.

President Solih declares October 22 as National Youth Day in December 2019 – following which the occasion has been celebrated annually.
