Additional school worth MVR 241M to be built at Hulhumale’ Phase II

Education Ministry has contracted a party to build an additional school at Hulhumale’ Phase II, in a project valued at MVR 241 million.

The Ministry said that the design and build project has been awarded on a contractor financing basis to a joint venture between Azrowa Maldives and Edward & Christie. The project was contracted to be completed within 547 days.

The agreement pertaining to the project was signed on Monday, by Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali, and the directors of both companies.

This is the fifth school being built at Hulhumale’ Phase II. It will accommodate students from pre-school grades up until tenth grade.

Education Ministry detailed that the school will have 54 classrooms, a multipurpose hall and four elevators. They said the school will be operational in 2024.

Teaching commenced at the first school in Hulhumale’ Phase II, ‘Kamil Ali Didi Primary School’ on September 4. Meanwhile, teaching commenced at ‘Jameel Didi Preschool’, which is next to ‘Kamil Ali Didi Primary School’ on October 31.

In an earlier statement, Education Ministry said that teaching will commence Salaahuddin School in the second term of the current academic year.
