First couple departs on state visit to Bahrain

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed departed to the Kingdom of Bahrain on a state visit on Wednesday.

The first couple is accompanied by a delegation of senior government officials on this trip.

President Solih is traveling to Bahrain at the invitation of the country’s king, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. During this trip, the president will meet the king to discuss ways to advance bilateral relations.

Apart from this, the first couple is also scheduled to meet with state dignitaries during the visit.

Biliteral talks will be held between the two governments to strengthen cooperation between Maldives and Bahrain, after which a number of memorandum of understandings (MoUs) will be exchanged in achieving the same.

The first couple will also attend a luncheon hosted by the King of Bahrain in their honor.

They will conclude the visit and return to the Maldives on Saturday, October 8.
