Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) states it will begin charging passengers for its Raajje Transport Link (RTL) minibus service in Male’ on Monday.
In a press conference Sunday, MTCC’s CEO Adam Azim said that as previously stated, the minibus fare is MVR 7.
Passengers can purchase QR tickets from RTL’s website or mobile app – RTL Travel.
Passengers will need to show their QR tickets to the conductor in order to scan it.
According to MTCC, QR tickets can be used for up to seven days.
Passengers can also purchase bundles of 30, 40 or 60 tickets via the app.
Additionally, passengers can also purchase paper tickets from the minibus. MTCC advices passengers to bring the exact amount, as it would be time consuming to provide passengers with change.
MTCC states it will make arrangements for tickets to be purchased with Visa, American Express and Mastercard before the end of October.
MTCC is also preparing a travel card which can be used for all RTL services.
RTL minibus service will continue to be free for school students in uniform, people above the age of 65 years, children under the age of three years, and people with disabilities.
MTCC’s CEO Azim thanked the public for their support for RTL services.
