President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on Tuesday, traveled to HA. Dhidhdhoo on a Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry.
The president arrived in Dhidhdhoo at approximately 17:20pm this evening, upon which he was given a warm welcome by the residents of the island.
The harbor area of the island was heavily decorated with the national flag.
President Solih is visiting Dhidhdhoo as part of his ongoing visit four islands in northern Maldives.
He will be taking part in a ceremony that will be held on the island tonight to officially inaugurate the commencement of high-speed ferry service in Zone 1 under the ‘Integrated National Public Ferry Network’ project which aims to connect the Maldivian islands through a high-speed ferry network.
The purpose of the president taking an RTL ferry to Dhidhdhoo is to first-hand experience the service.
President Solih will stay overnight at Dhidhdhoo. Tomorrow, he will meet Haa Alifu Atoll Council, Dhidhdhoo Council and the island’s Women’s Development Committee.
He is also set to tour Dhidhdhoo Hospital and Haa Alifu Atoll Education Centre.
Dhidhdhoo is President Solih’s last destination on this trip. He is set to return to Male’ City tomorrow evening.
