Special packages for lease of Lonuziyaaraih Park, changes to rates

Male’ City Council has introduced new packages and a new policy for lease of Lonuziyaaraih Park for events.

Lonuziyaaraih Park was previously leased at the rate of MVR 1,000 per hour.

Male’ City Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu the changes were made to make the lease process easier for both the council and lessees, and to make the process more transparent.

“We made the new packages to resolve the previous issues. For example, a 12-hour package and a 24-hour package for different areas. People will choose the package most suitable for their needs. This means that if they select the 24-hour package, and pay the fixed rate, they can make all the preparations within that time frame. We will not provide any additional time,” he said.

“With this, they can make the preparations and hold their party within 24 hours.

The packages:

• Varunulaa Raalhugandu area: MVR 3,000 for 12 hours
• Heylhi I area: MVR 6,000 for 12 hours
• Heylhi II area: MVR 7,000 for 12 hours
• Us Bageecha area: MVR 7,000 for 12 hours
• Medhu Bageecha area: MVR 7,000 for 12 hours
• Maamelaameli area: MVR 10,000 for 24 hours
• Faalan Asseyri area: MVR 5,000 for 12 hours
• Kasrathu Fehi area: MVR 15,000 for 12 hours
• Fenaaru Maizaan area: MVR 3,000 for 12 hours

Muizzu said the packages will improve transparency and close the doors to corruption.

“The road to calling a councilor and asking for additional time for parties has been shut. Once the time in the package runs out, that’s it,” he said.
