Galolhu City Park has been redeveloped and opened to the public on Tuesday, ten years after the space was first closed off.

The park was inaugurated by Male' City Mayor Adam Azim. In a post, Azim noted that the area had remained sealed with tin sheets for a decade before redevelopment began on December 8, 2024.

According to the mayor, the project cost MVR 2.5 million from the city council’s budget and took around eight months to complete. “It is a great pleasure to open the park after it has been designed and completed,” Azim said.

The newly opened park includes a badminton court, a three‑on‑three basketball court, exercise areas for all age groups, and spaces for relaxation. It also features a dedicated children’s play area and zones designed for community activities and multipurpose use.

Azim said one of the council’s key aims is to create comfortable public spaces that bring happiness to residents. He urged the public to help maintain the park’s cleanliness and appearance.
