Manta Air prepares to launch international operations

Private Maldivian airline, Manta Air has announced it is preparing to fly international next year.

Manta Air’s Deputy CEO Ahmed Maumoon told Sun the airline will begin international flights with flights to neighboring Sri Lanka and India.

Maumoon said the airline was seeking necessary approvals, and expect to begin flying internationally early next year.

Manta Air aims to launch operations to Bandaranaike International Airport – located in the outskirts of Sri Lankan capital Colombo, and to three Indian cities – Bangalore, Trivandrum and Cochin.

“Post-pandemic, the number of tourist arrivals from South East Asian countries have increased. We have to contribute to this,” said Maumoon.

Manta Air plans on using ATR aircrafts – which the airline currently uses for domestic operations – for its international operations.

Maumoon said the airline will increase the frequency of flights based on demand.

Manta Air has a fleet of three ATR aircrafts, one Beechcraft 1900D aircraft, and 15 seaplanes.

The airline, which holds scheduled flights to Dh. Kudahuvadhoo, recently launched scheduled charter flights to HA. Hoarafushi.
