Operator of Velana International Airport – Maldives Airports Company Limited’s (MACL) Board of Directors have concluded to distribute MVR 25,000 equally to staff as annual bonus for the year 2021.
The last time MACL staff received annual bonus was two years ago, in August 2019. At the time, the staff were equally distributed MVR 7879.79 as annual bonus. After two years – the company’s Board of Directors have decided to distribute an annual bonus three times higher than what was distributed the last time.
In this regard, all employees who worked throughout the year 2021 will be entitled for MVR 25,000 as annual bonus.
Meanwhile, employees who joined the company in the year 2021 that served equivalent to or more than 6 months (180 days) – and employees who left the company in the year 2021 that served equivalent to or more than 6 months will receive an amount calculated on a pro-rata basis as annual bonus.
However, employees that were dismissed under the display policy during 2021 will not be eligible for the bonus.
MACL said that the annual bonus would be deposited to staffs’ accounts before August 18.
The annual bonus distributed by MACL had ceased for two years over financial constrains posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the company has previously stated that all employees were given their full salaries without any cutbacks when the borders were closed due to the pandemic.
