Opposition leader, former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom, on Sunday, has remarked that Jumhoory Party’s (JP) Leader Qasim Ibrahim and Maldives National Party’s (MNP) Leader Mohamed Nazim will remain as traitors until their death.
Via a tweet, Yameen said that Adhaalath Party’s sheikhs have found deliverance within President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration.
He went onto strongly criticize Qasim and Nazim in the same tweet.
In this regard, he questioned Qasim and Nazim whether distancing themselves to the abyss they have thrown the country into will redeem themselves.
“Nazim, Qasim: Your meek effort to distance yourself from the abyss you have thrown the country into, going to redeem yourselves? Traitors until death do you apart,” he had said.
Nazim had responded to Yameen’s tweet shortly afterwards – stating that the biggest traitor for Maldives to ever see was himself.
He added that Yameen spent the entirety of his administration on theft and corruption.
“Yameen’s administration consisted of jailing the opposition. Weakening government offices,” he also said.
Nazim also posed a question to Yameen – asking why he was advocating still as a national hero that loves the country after committing all those acts.
Qasim and Nazim are leaders of two political parties that usually favor the government in matters pertaining to Yameen and the opposition coalition. Qasim, particularly, is noted to be one the individuals that significantly worked to ensure the current coalition government wins the election.
In this regard, JP which is amongst the government coalition is under his leadership.
Another party belonging to the opposition coalition, People’s National Congress’ (PNC) Leader Abdul Raheem Abdulla also recently criticized JP and Qasim.
He claimed Qasim to be one of the individuals creating major obstructions for Yameen to be reelected to presidency again.
