Mayor Muizzu: Reclamation of Gulhifalhu will provide land to 30,000 people

Male’ City Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu states that further reclamation of Gulhifalhu to issue land can provide 30,000 people with housing.

He made the comment during a community meeting on Tuesday evening.

Muizzu said he had asked the government to provide the people of Male’ with the amount of land they deserved.

He said he had suggested further reclamation of land in Gulhifalhu instead of developing a port, but the city council had been excluded from all discussions regarding the subject.

Muizzu said that he had learnt about plans to issue land from Gulhifalhu through media reports.

He said that there was room to reclaim over 200 hectors of land even with a port.

Muizzu said it was equal to the size of Hulhumale’ Phase I and would accommodate housing to 30,000 people.
