Male’ mayor: Working on developing picnic area in Vilimale’

Male’ City Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu states the city council is working on developing a picnic area in suburban Vilimale’.

He announced the plans during a community meeting in Lonuziyaaraih Park on Tuesday evening.

 Muizzu said the picnic area will be developed in the beach currently used for swimming.

He said the picnic area will have a barbecue area, separate toilet blocks for men and women, and open showers.

“We plan on making this development with dayrooms, open shower, and all these facilities,” he said.

Muizzu said the picnic area will have total 10 dayrooms.

He said the area will also have a ramp for wheelchair access.

“The concept is for people to wait waist-deep in the water in wheelchairs so they can get water therapy,” he said.

Muizzu said the city council planned on developing the picnic area in six months.

“First, we will get everything except the rooms done in six months. It will take more time to get the rooms done,” he said.
