President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed returned to Maldives on Wednesday night after concluding an unofficial visit to Saudi Arabia to perform the Hajj pilgrimage.
The first couple landed at Velana International Airport at approximately 23:30pm last night. Journalists were present at the airport at this time – hoping to get a statement from President Solih regarding the arrival of embattled Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in the Maldives and the presumption he has been granted asylum by the government.
However, security personnel did not allow this.
The first couple departed for Saudi Arabia on this trip on July 4.
