Economic Ministry warns of duplicated fake websites of its ‘Xpat’ portal

Economic Ministry, on Sunday, has warned the public of duplicated fake websites of the ‘Xpat’ online portal developed and managed by the Ministry – for the process of recruiting expatriate workers to the Maldives.

In a statement released last night, the Ministry stressed that such portals or websites are duplicated in order to steal user information, to misuse it.

They underscored that six duplicated fake websites had been brought to their attention so far. They are;

  1.          http://immigrationgovmv.org
  2.          http://xpat-egovmv.com
  3.          https://xpategov.com
  4.          https://www.xpat-gov.com
  5.          https://www.xpat-egov.online
  6.          http://xpategovmv.org

Economic Ministry advised the public to always ensure that they are browsing on the right portal in attaining the services.They also advised against providing any user information to a fake portal or website.

Apart from this, the Ministry have instructed to reset passwords if the user suspects having accidentally logged into a fake portal or website.
