Independence Day float parade to be held this year after a three-year break

The annual Independence Day float parade is set to take place this year, after a three-year break resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Home Ministry’s Communications Director Hafsee Abdulla confirmed to Sun that the float parade would be held in conjunction with this year’s Independence Day. However, he said that no additional information can be disclosed at the moment.

The last time a float parade was held in the Maldives was back in 2019, on 54th Independence Day of the country. This parade saw the participation of five state-owned companies showcasing a total of 14 floats in different themes including cultural, cartoons and movies.
