PG press charges against man who bit off woman’s finger

The Prosecutor General’s Office (PG) has forwarded Ga. Villingili to press charges against a man who was arrested for forcing himself inside a house in GA. Villingili by intimidation and physically assaulted some of those residing in the house, biting off one of the woman’s fingers.

Charges have been pressed against Ali Hassan, 35, G. Cherry House, Male’ City.

A total of five charges have been pressed against him, and if proven he would be sentenced to over two years of jail time.

Charges pressed by PG are:

-        Intentionally entering a place without permission

-        Touching another without consent

-        Inflicting a physical injury on another

Ali Hassan was arrested at dawn on May 3, and when he was taken to Vilingili Magistrate Court regarding remand, the court sentenced him to 150 days for acting in contempt of court, and also remanded him until the end of the trial.

However, when Hassan was presented before the court for a remand hearing on Thursday, the court had ordered his release.

PG Office stated that a form was submitted on June 7, requesting to remand him until the end of his trial, and the hearing for this has been scheduled for June 13.

Multiple members had sustained serious injuries in the altercation that occurred as a result of Hassan trying to force his way in.

A resident from Villingili who spoke to Sun said that Hassan was previously married to one of the women from the family.

The resident detailed that Hassan had bit off a finger of his ex-wife’s sister during the incident, fractured two fingers of her mother and bit her hand. It was also noted by the resident that he had hit a councillor who was residing at the house on the face and severely beat the person up after having fallen down from the initial blow.
