Education Ministry denies rumors of TB spreading in schools

The Ministry of Education on Monday denied the rumours of Tuberculosis (TB) spreading within schools in Maldives.

Following reports in the media that TB was spreading in some schools within Maldives, the ministry released a statement addressing the matter.

In the statement, the ministry denied the rumours and stated that it was baseless lies.

Additionally, it was urged not to spread such lies, since news of this nature would create unease for parents as well as students.

“Under Health Protection Agency’s (HPA) Tuberculosis (TB) elimination programme, HPA and Ministry of Education jointly conduct screening for school students every now and then,” noted the statement.

The ministry said that this year also, the screening programme is taking place.

Furthermore, the authority assured that they always give utmost priority to the safety and protection of the students.
