iCom launches ‘Mahoali’ portal providing easy access to information

Information Commissioner’s Office (iCom) has launched an online portal under the name ‘Mahoali’ to facilitate information requests under the Right to Information Act.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Information Commissioner Ahmed Ahid Rasheed detailed that the portal was launched to streamline and ease existing the process of requesting and obtaining information under the Right to Information Act.

He further stated that complaints can be filed through the portal over denied access to information. Apart from this, he said that receivers can file appeals through the portal if he or she is unsatisfied with the information provided.

iCom reports that the portal had been introduced with direct access to over 50 offices including ministries, councils and independent institutions. They added that additional government offices would be linked to the portal in the future.
