iCom files case against President’s Office with PG for withholding information

Prosecutor General’s Office (PG Office) states the Information Commissioner’s Office (iCom) has filed a case against the President’s Office for not responding to requests filed with the Office under the Freedom of Right to Information Act.

PG Office confirmed to Sun on Monday that iCom had filed a case against the President’s Office, adding they will disclose their course of action over the case at a later time.

Commenting on the matter, Information Commissioner Ahmed Ahid Rasheed told Sun that the case filed with PG pertains to the President’s Office's failure to conform with an order.

In this regard, he detailed that the President’s Office had failed to provide information regarding Covid vaccinations during the stipulated period.

He further said his Office was preparing to file additional cases for withholding information. However, Ahid said it is not possible to state an exact number at the moment, as they are pending.

He noted that the President’s Office had been instructed to disclose the information on various occasions concerning these cases.
