JP Leader requested to remove Jabir from JP Deputy Leader post

President of Jumhooree Party (JP) Youth Group Moosa Anwar has sent a letter to JP Leader Gasim Ibrahim, requesting for the removal of JP Deputy Leader Abdullah Jabir from his post.

Moosa Anwar explained his reasons for requesting for Jabir’s removal.

He said that while JP is part of the government coalition, Jabir has questioned the legitimacy of the government and used offensive language when referring to President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik.

Moreover, Anwar said that the ongoing Police investigation following the arrest of Jabir from Hdh. Hondaidhoo under suspicion of drinking alcohol, is another reason to dismiss him.

The letter also states that Jabir has acted against the party’s basic regulation which states that members should follow the party’s regulation, policies, rules, resolutions and decisions.

Jabir has heavily criticized President Waheed and his government after he was arrested in Hondaidhoo for drinking alcohol.

When asked about the proposition to remove him from the post of JP Deputy Leader, Jabir said to contact JP Leader Gasim Ibrahim, and that he did not wish to comment on the matter.
