Aeroflot to resume flights to Maldives on May 13

Russia’s flag carrier Aeroflot is scheduled to resume flights to Maldives next month.

Maldives Civil Aviation Authority reported to Sun that Russia-Maldives flights were scheduled to resume on May 13.

Aeroflot will operate one daily flight between Maldives and Russia on an A330-300 aircraft.

Aeroflot had suspended flight operations to Maldives following an escalation in the Russia-Ukraine conflict on March 8, leading to a huge percent drop in tourist arrivals from the Russian market – which had made for 15.8 percent of total arrivals.

After the suspension of flight operations, Russian authorities asked for assurance Maldives would service Russian planes. The CAA provided assurance there was no obstacle to resuming operations under the civil aviation agreement between Maldives and Russia in March.
