Housing Development Corporation (HDC) states that 17 out of 19 people who won stalls at the Hiyaa Local Market developed in Hulhumale’ Phase II have signed lease agreements and have been handed over their stalls.

Applications for stalls at the Hiyaa Local Market, developed to improve access of tenants of the Hiyaa housing units to food products during Ramadan, was opened exclusively for Hiyaa tenants themselves.

Application forms for the 19 stalls available for lease from the market were accepted, and the draw held on Monday, March 28.

559 applied for the stalls, out of whom 19 were selected in the draw. Five more were wait listed.

Those on the wait list are next in line in case the selected vendors are disqualified or wish to surrender their stalls.

HDC said on Sunday that they have now signed lease agreements with 17 vendors.

The corporation said that vendors will be required to start providing services within seven days the lease agreement is signed.

The agreements of vendors who fail to start providing services within the time frame will be terminated.

The monthly lease for a stall is MVR 2,000.
