New lifts installed at Hiyaa Tower 2 operationalized

The new lifts installed at Hiyaa Tower 2 has been operationalized on Monday following the completion of testing.

Testing of new lifts installed at Hiyaa Towers 1, 2 and 3 began on April 7^th.

Housing Development Corporation (HDC)’s media official said the new lifts at Hiyaa Tower 2 have been operationalized following the completion of testing.

The official noted that efforts were underway to install new lifts at the remaining Hiyaa towers.

According to the official, new lifts will be operationalized at Hiyaa Tower 1 next.

The official said installation of lifts at different Hiyaa towers are at different phases.

The new lifts being installed at Hiyaa towers will have a capacity of 21 people and can accommodate stretchers.

Installation of additional lifts at each Hiyaa tower developed in Hulhumale’ Phase II is an electoral pledge of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The project was awarded to China's Shenyang Yuanda Intellectual Industry Group last February.  In this regard, the Chinese company was contracted to install a total of 32 lifts across 16 Hiya towers.

According to HDC’s former managing director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed the 32 lifts were purchased at a cost of USD 18 million.
