City Council, Dutch Docklands sign MoU to provide affordable housing for Male’ residents

Male’ City Council and Dutch Docklands International have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide affordable housing for residents of the Maldivian capital. 

The MoU was signed by Male’ City Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Dutch Docklands International’s CEO Paul Van de Camp on Wednesday. 

Dutch Docklands International is the developer of the billion-dollar floating city project in Maldives. 

Male’ City Council states the agreement signed on Wednesday is linked to the project. 

Muizzu said that the Male’ City Council welcomed any initiative that could alleviate the housing crisis facing Male’ City.  

He said that the agreement showed the biggest responsibility of the council was to facilitate affordable housing opportunities for residents of Male’. 

Male’ City Council made the decision to partner with Dutch Docklands International for the floating city project with the unanimous consensus of 14 council members who attended the council’s 46th official meeting.
