Indian External Affairs Minister to visit Addu to open College of Security and Law Enforcement

Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is scheduled to visit Addu City on Saturday evening to attend the inauguration of the India-funded College of Security and Law Enforcement in the southern Maldivian city, as well as other India-funded projects.

Maldivian Foreign Ministry states Jaishankar will arrive at the Gan International Airport in Addu at 07:15 pm.

He is scheduled for bilateral talks with his Maldivian counterpart, Abdulla Shahid at 08:15 pm, which will be followed by officials talks between the governments of Maldives and India.

After the official talks, Maldives and India will exchange two Memorandums of Understanding in different fields of cooperation.

And at 09:00 pm tonight, Shahid and Jaishankar will deliver remarks at a joint press conference.

Maldivian Foreign Ministry states that Jaishankar is scheduled to leave Addu on Sunday.

Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, who is currently on a tour of southern Maldives, is also set to arrive in Addu on Saturday.

He is scheduled to attend several events on Sunday, including the inauguration of the College of Security and Law Enforcement, inauguration of harbors in several islands, inauguration of practical work on the Addu road development project, and the signing of the agreement for the Addu land reclamation project.
