National Movement to counter those who obstruct anti-GMR protests

The Maldives National Movement has decided to protest against those who obstruct their efforts to reclaim Ibrahim Nasir International Airport from GMR.

This protest has been scheduled to begin at 8:45pm on Friday at Artificial Beach.

National Movement Steering Committee member, Sobah Rasheed told Sun Online that politicians and Members of Parliament are among those who obstruct anti-GMR protests.

He said that the efforts to establish secret voting for the no-confidence vote against the President at the Parliament , is part of the series of activities to obstruct efforts to reclaim the airport from GMR.

“The President has said that he will consider our efforts to free the airport. So, some politicians and Members of Parliament are trying to obstruct our efforts. We are going to start very different activities against them,” he said.

Maldives National Movement said during their most recent protest that they will not stop until the airport is reclaimed from GMR. Participants said that they will protest against every institution that tries to justify GMR's presence in the Maldives.
